You're moving but not aware You're drowsy without a care Except keeping your whites behind your lids And your lids are your best canvas I can only imagine what you're painting And your body on my mattress is proof But do you think I am telling you the truth?
Resa looked down at the water through pensive, piercing eyes. She shook her head, trying to clear away her thoughts. A wolf/German Shepherd mix and a Keeshond lay at the base of the tree Resa had climbed, surrounded by leaves. Eros, the wolf mix, was busy sniffing the area around him, while Riot, the Keeshond, was watching for any sign of trouble. The woman in the tree wrapped her legs tightly around the thick branch she was resting on and then lowered herself backwards, starring up through the half-barren limbs.
Resa loved fall. It was just a good season; relaxing, not like others where things were rushed or didn’t move at all. She closed her eyes and inhaled the warm scent of leaves and water. Her weak hadn’t been so great, and tension had been building inside of her. She could still feel it, but it wasn’t quite as nagging when she was surrounded by nature and the wind was blowing over her.
After a while images Resa didn’t particularly enjoy began to appear on her closed eyelids and she shook her head as if to try and rid herself of them. Her eyes flew open as if she could escape them that way, and she let emotion build in her until she released a scream; she was lucky there weren’t many people on the lake that day. Getting bored of her post after a while and looking for a distraction, the woman sat up again, her legs dangling in the air.
Resa glanced down to remind herself of what she was wearing; a black camisole and jeans. She reached up and ran a hand through her thick hair before standing, and balancing. Her eyes searched the edge of the lake to her left and right until they rested on a willow tree. She’d have to remember that for later. Willow trees were typically her favorite, along with magnolia trees. Below her, Riot’s ears had perked up and so had Eros’s. Riot gave a quiet bark as an order to Eros, who immediately stood and trotted forward to investigate. Resa would give him a second and then call him back; he could have his fun, but she didn’t want him harassing anyone.

-I got accepted finally. Now on to playing!-
The trail that Aemie stepped upon was loosely covered with leaves and many such things. He almost tripped several times on the rocks and twigs that lay strewn across the old path. The day was warm, quiet, sunny and all around wonderful. His blue eyes followed leaves as they fell from the trees, the fall breeze pulling them off and allowing them to fall to their deaths. A smile was placed upon the man's face, his cute little dimples showing. The wind took his messy blonde hair backward.
He wasn't dressed extremely oddly today, it seemed as if the jeans and polo that he usually wore were sufficient for today. However, instead of a polo, he wore a blue with white pinstripe button down shirt, worn casually over a white tee shirt. The sleeves were rolled up and the first few buttons hang loosely open. His shoes made a crunch as he approached the little lake that was nestled in the woods.
He wasn't sure of why he'd come, but he was fairly sure he was here to do some thinking. Whether or not it got done peacefully was out of his hands, that were smaller than his liking. Well we just had to add that in now didn't we. He found himself nearing the edge of the forest, and to his surprise, a pair of dogs emerged from the clearing where the lake was. Well that couldn't be good...

When Eros caught sight of what he knew Riot had picked up on, he froze, his eyes locked on the man. Riot stood behind him, watching and waiting. The two made an intimidating pair; both easily reached Aemie's waist when standing on all fours. The wolf came out in Eros as his upper lip lifted into a snarl and he lowered himself to teh ground slightly, prepared to spring forward. Riot barked at him, warning him not to get carried away to quickly, but still watched the man.
By this time Resa was out of the tree, following Riot's bark to where she and Eros were standing, quite appearently guarding her. Silenzio! Lasciare stare lo! Eros was reluctant to back off, but obeyed Resa, and both animals moved to stand by her as she offered an apologetic look to the man they'd come upon.
I'm sorry. They think everyone's trouble. I'm Resa, by the way.

One could really say that the man was startled. He'd never liked dogs much, and this just kind of put the icing on the cake. He watched the wolflike dog and wondered if the dog truely was, a wolf and the other was just taken in by a pack. He backed slowly away from the two large dogs, speaking quietly to them to calm down and that he wasn't going to hurt anyone.
A surprised look crossed the man's face as he heard a woman's voice call out to the dogs, who backed off quickly. The wolf-dog was reluctant to beleive her, but he backed off none the less. He sighed a sigh of releif. That was one too many near pummeling experiences for one day of his life. He stopped to look at the woman who had called off the dogs. He gave her a smile and a nod of thanks, all the while scanning her over with peaked interest. She looked to be around his age, unlike many who were around town.
"Nice to meet you Resa. I'm Aemie." He said.
The man held out a callused hand, from work and from riding without gloves in his earlier years. He'd always had hard mouthed ponies, so riding without gloves was pretty much asking for blisters on his fingers.

Resa saw relief cross the man's face when her animals calmed, and a slight smirk came to her face. As he offered a hand to her she firmly shook it, making a note of his name and face.
Well, Aemie, you're the first person I've seen in a while over 19 and under 40. It's a good change.
Resa offered a smile, truly appreciating that she'd found someone ehr own age. In the bit of an awkward silence that lingered between them, Resa's mind filled with thoughts, resting for a moment on that afternoon. She had a lesson. She glanced down to her watch and bit her lip, then looked back up to Aemie. And she hadn't told anyone that she'd be out afterwards. Screw first impressions...
Umm, Aemie, I've got a lessont to teach down at Heartlake in about fifteen minutes that I forgot about. I also needed to ride afterwards, but nobody's going to be around, and riding alone isn't the best idea, would you mind coming out there with me? I know we just met and all, but if you ride and you don't have anything to do, I'd really appreciate it.

Aemie chuckled, a smile breaking out on his face. Over 19 and under 40, well that was quite a range of ages. He noticed the way she shook his hand. Firm and strong. He liked that. It told a lot about a person when a handshake was given. You could tell tons of things about them. Like how hard they work, or how little, and what their self confidence was. He could tell that this woman was confident, and she worked hard for what she got.
"I'd hope that would be good. I'm assuming that it's a good thing to find people who are your peers." He paused. "It keeps you from feeling old. I do sometimes."
He chuckled again. Sometimes he really did feel more like 46 than 26. The way that people treated him, and the way they looked at him sometimes made him think he was sprouting gray hairs or something. He stopped his scrambling thoughts. He listened carefully. Riding? Sounded great to him.
"Yeah. That's where my mare is. I'll wait for you to finish your lesson, and we'll take a little ride. Sounds like fun, Resa"
He said her name at the end, simply rolling it off his toungue. He liked the way it felt on his toungue, simple and sweet. Like an old fashioned candy or something. Something that seems so simple, can really be great in the end. Perhaps that's what would become of this relationship. Well friendship per say.

Resa listened as Aemie replied, her thoughts pausing when he said her name. She liked it, maybe more than she should for just having met him. As soon as she processed what he had said, though, the adrenaline rush was back and beating down the door. Even small things like time restraints could prove to be fun for Resa.
Great, thank you. How 'bout I meet you in back of the barn in about- Resa calcualated the time in her head. The girl was a beginner, so about a twenty minute lesson, plus tacking and untacking... -forty-five minutes?
Resa allowed barely enough time for his reply, and then she turned and gave a high pitched whistle. From the clearing which Resa and her dogs had emerged from, a mountain lion sauntered, the huntress's eyes turned to Resa seemingly for direction. The woman gave a signal to her canine companions, who took off back up the path, the mountain lion following in large strides until they disappearred down the trail.
Resa turned to Aemie with a smirk and gave a quick wave before she followed the animals at a flat out run, which wasn't really necesarry for anything but clearing the adrenaline from her system. Her boots thudded for two steps and then she couldn't be heard anymore, just as silent as the wild cat she kept as a companion.
((How about you post first at the barn? Like he's waiting for Resa?))

-sure. hopefully I'll get it up by tonight.-
A smile appeared on the young man's face. He liked this girl. She seemed independant. Independant enough to be around on her own, but just enough. She didn't hate people, and that he could clearly tell. Resa was interesting to him. He was intruigued. More so than he had been in the past.
"Great. See you there" He said.
He watched as a mountain lion sauntered out of the forested area around the lake. He was about to scream for Resa to look out, but he realized the dogs would have warned her if there was trouble. He'd then realized that he had heard about Resa. Well more like the girl who kept a mountain lion as a pet. There. That clarified. He gave a breif wave and watched her run off into the distance with her animals leading the way.
